(Imām Bukhārī narrates): 'Abdullāh ibn Muhammad narrated to us, he said: Hishām narrated to us, he said: Ma'mar informed us, from al-Zuhrī and Hishām ibn 'Urwah, from 'Urwah, from 'Ā'ishah, may Allāh be pleased with her, she narrated that:
the sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ stood and led the people in prayer; so he recited at length, then he performed rukū', so he performed a long rukū', then he raised his head from rukū', so he recited at length, and this was less than the first recitation, then he performed rukū', so he performed a long rukū', this was less than the first rukū', then he raised his head from rukū', so he performed two sajdahs, then he stood up, so he led the second rak'ah similar to the first rak'ah, then he stood up, so he said: Indeed, the sun and the moon are not eclipsed because of anyone's death, nor because of anyone's life, but they are two signs among the signs of Allāh; Allāh shows them to His servants. So when you see them, take refuge in prayer.
