(Imām Bukhārī narrates): 'Abdullāh ibn Maslamah narrated to us, from Imām Mālik, from Zaid ibn Aslam, from 'Atā' ibn Yasār, from 'Abdullāh ibn 'Abbās, may Allāh be pleased with them both, he narrated that:

the sun was eclipsed in the time of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, so the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ led the prayer, so he stood for about the recitation of Sūrat al-Baqarah, then he performed a long rukū', then he raised his head from rukū', so he stood at length, and this was less than the first standing, then he performed a long rukū', and this was less than the first rukū', then he performed sajdah, then stood at length, and this was less than the first standing, then he performed a long rukū', and this was less than the first rukū', then he raised his head from rukū', then he stood at length, and this was less than the first standing, then he performed a long rukū', and this was less than the first rukū', then he performed sajdah, then he turned towards the people, and at that time the sun had become uncovered. So he ﷺ said: The sun and the moon are two signs among the signs of Allāh; they are not eclipsed because of anyone's death, nor because of anyone's life. So when you see it, remember Allāh. The Companions said: O Messenger of Allāh! We saw you take hold of something while standing in your place, then we saw you stepping back. He ﷺ said: I saw Paradise, so I took hold of a cluster; if I had taken it, you would have eaten from it as long as the world remained. And the Fire was shown to me, and I have never seen such an ugly sight as today, and I saw that most of the inhabitants of the Fire were women. The Companions asked: Why is that, O Messenger of Allāh? He said: Because of their kufr (ingratitude). It was said: Do they disbelieve in Allāh? He said: They are ungrateful to their husbands and deny their kindness. If you were to be kind to one of them her whole life, then she sees some small shortcoming from you, she would say: I have never seen any good from you at all.
