(Imām Bukhārī narrates): Muhammad narrated the hadith to us, he said: Abu Damrah Anas bin Iyad informed us, he said: Sharik bin Abdullah bin Abi Namr narrated the hadith to us, he heard from Hazrat Anas bin Malik (Allāh be pleased with him), he was mentioning that

on the day of Jumu'ah, a man entered from the door facing the pulpit, and the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was at that time standing and delivering the khutbah. That man stood facing towards the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ, so he said: "O Messenger of Allāh! The livestock have perished and the roads have been cut off, so pray to Allāh that He send down rain upon us." Hazrat Anas said: So the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ raised both his hands, then supplicated: "O Allāh! Send down rain upon us! O Allāh! Send down rain upon us! O Allāh! Send down rain upon us!" Hazrat Anas said: And by Allāh! We were not seeing any clouds gathered in the sky, nor scattered clouds, nor anything else, and there was nothing hidden between us and the mountain of Sila, nor between any mansion and house. Then suddenly clouds surged up from behind the mountain of Sila like a shield, and when they reached the middle of the sky, they spread out, then it began to rain. Hazrat Anas said: And by Allāh! We did not see the sun for six days. Then on the next Jumu'ah, a man entered from the same door, and at that time the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was standing and delivering the khutbah, so he stood facing towards him and said: "O Messenger of Allāh! The properties have perished and the roads have been cut off, so pray to Allāh that He now hold back the rain." Then the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ raised both his hands, then he supplicated: "O Allāh! Send down rain around us, not upon us! O Allāh! Upon the hillocks, upon the mountains, upon the plains, upon the hills, upon the valleys, and upon the places where trees grow." Hazrat Anas narrates that then the rain stopped immediately, and we began walking about in sunshine.

Sharik said: I asked Hazrat Anas: Was this the same first man? He said: I do not know.
